South West Wiltshire is a county constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election.
The constituency was created for the 2010 general election, following the review of parliamentary representation in Wiltshire by the Boundary Commission for England, which increased the number of seats in the county from six to seven.[2]
The previous Westbury constituency was abolished, with the northern part (including the town of Bradford-on-Avon) transferred to the reinstated Chippenham seat, and the remainder (including the towns of Trowbridge, Warminster and Westbury) to this new constituency. It also includes some wards transferred from the Salisbury seat.
